Project at a Glance
We first redesigned Outside Van’s website back in 2016. They were a much smaller company then, and after a few great years and solid highway miles on the website’s odometer, it was time for a refresh. The team at Outside Van challenged us to “think outside the grid,” designing the site to accommodate full-width immersive photos and other visual elements to help put potential Outside Van customers in the driver’s seat. This “off-of-the-grid” approach not only culminated in an engaging and seamless user experience, but also earned the website a 2019 Davey Gold Award.
Picture (and Pixel) Perfect
Outside Van is about fulfilling dreams as much as it is about building vans. By creating a gallery of gorgeous custom sprinter vans shown out in the wild, key customer types can now set out on their own journeys for a custom van. For the fully-customized “Peak Series,” we dedicated a page to each van’s customizable elements—all 97 of ’em—from bunk beds to roof racks to solar power. By partnering with Outside Van’s meticulous designers, we made sure the details of their website carried the same level of precision and quality as their vans.
Everybody Wants One (We Want One, Too!)
It’s almost impossible to step inside one of these mechanical works of art, or just see the beautiful photos, and not want your own Outside Van. But let’s face it—not everyone who comes to the site is a serious buyer. Custom builds are a significant investment of time and resources, for both the buyer and the Outside Van team. The company’s awesome new facility is humming with activity; its team has zero time for simply kicking tires. The website’s appointment scheduler and detailed Wishlist form help Outside Van to distinguish the casual browser from a serious prospect.
The Van Life
Every specialty industry has its tribe, and the camper van community is no different. The Van Life is Outside Van’s blog, a customized space for storytelling and community, featuring video spotlights, articles, and interviews. Whether you’re a van owner or a van dreamer, The Van Life invites you to take a seat around the camp fire.
