2017 Impact Report

As a B Corp, we believe business can be (and should be) a force for good.

Our Core Values

Our core values got an update this year! We simplified from six to three, which guide everything we do.

Enjoy the Journey

We find joy in our shared journey and cultivate gratitude in the present moment

Improve Every Day

We are constantly moving towards the best version of ourselves, personally and professionally

Build “Everybody Wins” Relationships

We build mutually beneficial relationships through authentic and creative connections

Governance

We strive to be as transparent as possible. By practicing open book management with weekly financial updates, all team members are aware of the company’s financial state and what they can do to improve it.

Employees

To measure employee engagement, we conduct the Gallup Q12 survey several times a year. Gallup developed the survey after spending decades writing and testing hundreds of questions, yielding the 12 key components that drive employee engagement. Our score is 4.5 – a full point higher than average!

We also implemented great new benefits, including an Employee Assistance Program, Flex Spending Account, Donation Matching Program, Transit and Bike Stipend, and Paid Volunteer Time (more on that below!).

Financial Health

2017 was our 4th year in a row of 20% growth, right in our line with our goal!

Community

We instituted a Paid Volunteer Time program this year, and PixelSpokers volunteered with several organizations that support financial health in underserved communities, including Innovative Changes and Junior Achievement Finance Park.

Innovation Law Lab

We are committed to helping people around the world achieve financial wellness, and we donate 5% of profits to help entrepreneurs build their companies. We’ve now made over 5,000 loans to entrepreneurs around the globe!

Junior Achievement of Oregon & SW Washington

Our CEO Cameron Madill was named Entrepreneur Organization’s Global Citizen of the Year, an award that recognizes one outstanding member who embodies the heart and soul of volunteerism, and who paves the way for others to follow. Cameron received this honor for his work volunteering in  a Texas prison for Central American refugees and his efforts in helping The Innovation Law Lab build a scalable venture philanthropy model that supports pro bono legal assistance to refugees around the U.S.

Environment

As a digital company, we already have a low carbon footprint, and we purchase Carbon Offsets through TerraPass to achieve carbon neutrality.

Our team grew, and so did our office! As we remodeled and expanded our office, we worked with our building management team and recycled everything we could (the old kitchen cabinets now live in our designer’s garage!), used recycled materials for new components, and installed energy efficient and water saving appliances.

Credit Unions

We proudly continue to focus our work on credit unions because of their commitment to serving the underserved. We now partner with 20+ credit unions and community banks. This year, we were particularly honored to work with DC Credit Union, which offers a New Americans Loan Program to help people finance their path to U.S. citizenship.

We believe that financial equity is a right, not a privilege

B Corp

In our third year as a certified B Corp, PixelSpoke was named Best for the World in two categories: Changemakers and Workers! We are honored to have received this recognition for our commitment to using business as a force for good.

If you’re curious how your company can make an impact, we encourage you to take the quick B Impact Assessment. It takes about 15-30 minutes, and is excellent preparation for actual certification.
